The Department of History at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, Patiala was founded in 2011 and is currently headed by Dr. Rachna Sharma. The Department offers courses in the History of Modern India with special emphasis on National Movement, Economic History, Environmental History, Contemporary History; History of the Modern World; Development of Law and Legal Institutions. The course is extended up to First Two Years of B.A.,L.L.B (FYIC) and endeavours to promote interdisciplinary approach and teaching. The course has been specially designed to prepare the students for competitive exams and it will also enable the students to choose from wide range of career opportunities in law and history and also in private sectors.
