Department of English

The Department of English RGNUL, established in 2006, works in consonance with the broader policies laid down by Academic Planning Board and Academic Council of the university. English is a compulsory subject for B.A. LL.B. (Hons.). The Department is a part of interdisciplinary teaching initiative of the university and provides academic support to students. Remedial classes for students are also conducted by the department.


The objectives of the English Course for B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) are as follows:

·  To improve oral and written communication skills

·  To develop critical, interpretative and analytical abilities

·  To deepen the awareness of rhetoric and engage with literary works

·  To enhance cognitive skills

·  To engage in reading of literature

·  To acquaint with the intersection of law and literature


The Department of English has been conducting an array of curricular and co-curricular activities. The initiatives include: Agahi, RGNUL Exagium, Expressions@RGNUL, Symposia, Workshop, Faculty Development Programme, Publication, Seminar/Conferences and Special Lectures
