The Department of Law, RGNUL since its inception has been making steadfast progress in the field of academics and professional excellence. Presently the Department of Law, the RGNUL, offers the following courses:

Post-Doctoral Research (LL.D) in Law
The department is committed to research and a goal-oriented pedagogy. The curriculum includes: Project work, Internships, Competitions: Moots, Debates, Sports and Cultural and Legal Aid. The department works in consonance with the Vision of the university to equip students with knowledge and relevant experience to help them become professionally competent lawyers, inquisitive researchers, able administrators, conscientious judicial officers, and above all, socially responsible citizens, who shall be whole- heartedly and continuously engaged in the process of nation building. The department has recently introduced new pedagogical methods to prepare the students to the skill set required in the globalized world e.g. Law Practicum Series, Research Oriented Discussion, Interdisciplinary teaching, International Fellow Visitors, Incentivizing Internship etc.
Presently having intake of 180 students (240 from Academic Session 2023-2024) in Five-Year Integrated B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) and 60 students in LL.M. (Postgraduate) Degree program and 93 Ph.D. Law Researchers (awarded 25+68 perusing) (including new batch) in all the fields of law e.g. Business Law including IPR, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law and International Law specialization areas of law since inception. There are 08 Post-Doctoral Researchers (LL.D.) (awarded 1+7 perusing) registered.
The University has its admitted 17th Batch B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and 16th Batch LL.M. (Post-Graduate) Degree program during 2022 and graduated 12th batches of B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and 15th Batch LL.M. (Postgraduate), 30 Ph.D. and 02 LL.D.
RGNUL, Punjab and Dr. BR Ambedkar University, Delhi (AUD) has also entered into MoU for offering Joint Degree program in M.A.(Criminology) with effect from Academic Session 2022-2023; RGNUL Punjab and MNLU Nagpur for Joint PG Diploma in PGDADR; PGDFDR; PGDM; PGDELP;PGDLT; PGDIL; PGDCLAI; PGDREL; PGDML; PGDLIL; PGDAL; PGDITL; PGDIB; PGDBL; PGDML; PGDIPR; PGDCPV; PGDFSL. Post Graduate Diploma in Prison Administration in collaboration with Central Jail Patiala (Punjab). Admission for MBA (Law) and LL.M. (Executive) programs are in pipeline from Academic Session 2023-2024.
The Alumni of the department are placed as Professors, Civil Servants, Judicial Officers, JAG Officers, Law Firm Associates, Entrepreneurs, NGOs etc.
