Assistant Professor in Legal Research

Mr. Ankit Kaushik is a graduate from National Law University, Jodhpur. He completed his LL.M. from National Law University Delhi with a dual specialization in Criminal Law and Constitutional Law. Prior to joining RGNUL he led the research team on the Indian Penal Code as a Research Associate with the Committee for Reforms in Criminal Laws established by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. He has previously worked with the Centre for Criminology and Victimology at National Law University Delhi in the capacity of a Research Associate on a major empirical research project titled Status of Crimes Against Women in Northern Regions of India (ICSSR). He has also worked as a Research Consultant on another major empirical research project on Impact and Implementation of Juvenile Justice Act, 2000 (UGC). His primary areas of research and interest lie in the fields of Criminal Justice, Victim justice, Critical Criminal Law and Constitutional Theory.


He has participated in consultative processes with the National Investigation Agency as well as the Bureau of Police Research and Development on the subject of evolving a legal framework surrounding radicalisation and de-radicalisation. He has been awarded the Director General’s Commendation Certificate by the BPRD, Ministry of Home Affairs for his contribution in the form of a Research Project on “Use of Community Policing Mechanisms for Mitigation of Radicalisation and Evolving Effective Mechanisms for De-radicalisation.” He has multiple research papers, seminar papers, op-eds and blogposts to his credit.


In addition to his duties as the Assistant Professor in Legal Research, Mr. Kaushik is currently engaged at RGNUL as the Co-Coordinator for the Centre for Criminology, Criminal Justice and Victimology. He is also the Executive Editor of the Journal for Victimology and Victim Justice (published by SAGE) as well as the Indian Journal of Criminology. He is a Member of the Committees for development and execution of the PG Diploma in Prison Administration as well as the Committee for Establishment of Forensic Lab at RGNUL.
